Scam Alert -- 6/2/2010

A customer from the National Bank and Trust Main Office received a text saying that their account was frozen. The customer called the number on the text and gave them his debit card # and then it disconnected him. He then contacted his NB&T Branch and they were able to cancel his card before any fraud was committed. Several Hillsboro customers have also received this text messages. The customer said he tried to call the number back the next day and the number was disconnected.

The text came from 2543790004 and the message was as follows:

"customer issue, eppi-card account frozen. Please call at 925 465 2344."

THIS IS A SCAM...do NOT call the number and never give anyone personal information, unless you can verify they are NB&T bank personnel.

NOTICE OF CHANGES IN TEMPORARY FDIC INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS

All funds in a “noninterest-bearing transaction account” are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012. This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.

The term “noninterest-bearing transaction account” includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest. It also includes Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts ("IOLTAs"). It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts, money-market deposit accounts.
